 75th Anniversary Film-A Sneak Peak

As you may have heard through the global Lycée grapevine, the Lycée Français de New York is celebrating its 75th anniversary throughout the 2010-11 school year with festivities and special programming. Now we would like to offer you a behind the scenes sneak peak at the making of the film. Less than a week before the official close of the 2009-10 school year, filmmaker and alum Fabrice Frère had already begun the production phase of the commemorative short film he had been commissioned to make by the Lycée’s 75th Anniversary Committee. The film, which is set to premiere at the New York and Paris launch events, highlights the Lycée’s illustrious history through compelling imagery of the school and interviews of individuals in the Lycée community. In their own words, a few Lycée alumni expressed why they considered it important to participate in the 75th Anniversary film.

"To translate the emotion and heartfelt attachment to the Lycée onto film."
-Stephan Haimo (class of '74)

"The 75th Anniversary is an important milestone, and the film covers members of the community from all areas, so I was happy to participate as a multi-areaed member, to give a voice of someone from the past, the present and the future."
-Donna Zilkha (Class of '72) and her father Ezra Zilkha

"… because the 75th is an enormous historical moment and it's a great privilege to express gratitude to a school that was an oasis from the ills of the country at the time."
-Susan Fales-Hills (Class of '80)

"It was important for me to participate to the Lycée's 75th Anniversary film to express my gratitude for not only what the school represents to me – mostly the pursuit of academic excellence and the life-lasting relationships with friends from around the globe- but also what I trust it will represent to my son, Sebastian, who, as a recent member of the Lycée's maternelle community is embarking, with many new friends, on an exciting and enriching path of personal and educational growth."
-Jean-Michel Huet (Class of '87)
