In Pictures75th Anniversary Launch Event Paris |

To say the Lycée Français de New York launched its 75th Anniversary in stellar fashion in New York and Paris could not be a truer statement. It was as though Mr. Thézé and the 75th Anniversary Committee were on a mission. They set themselves sur la terre ferme du Lycée - in New York and in Paris - looked back at where the school had been, then set their sights on where we would go and blasted off vers "Destination Réussite". Success of course was not even a question, with attendance at the New York launch reaching over 900 and Paris attendance breaking the 450 mark. Looking beyond the impressive number of guests at each event, one could see multiple decades of Lycée alumni and community members mingling, making introductions, sharing memories, and just being happy to be part of the Lycée family. These events not only launched the school's 75th Anniversary celebrations, they created a foundation for the future through renewed connections between the Lycée and its alumni. This could not have been accomplished without the hard work of the 75th Anniversary Committee. Co-chaired by Marie-Noëlle Pierce (class of '85) and Donna Zilkha (class of '72), the Committee worked for nearly two years to plan the two launch events and develop programming for what is already turning out to be an exciting anniversary year. As the school year approaches the midway point, there are still many events in which alumni can participate. The most recognizable event is the Lycee's annual Gala, which will be held at the Park Avenue Amory on February 5th 2011, with the Lycee's 75 years of academic excellence being the theme. But prior to the Gala, the second installment of the 75th Anniversary Speaker Series, which will focus on France's leadership in haute cuisine and wine, will be presented January 27th in the Lycee Cultural Center (see Speaker Series article in this issue). The Speaker Series finale will certainly hit home for all alumni, with the April 14 discussion How the Lycee Experience Shaped my life taking center stage. This final discussion will be held in conjunction with an alumni reunion weekend (more details in the next issue). But before what is yet to come outshines what has been accomplished, let us take a moment to remember les deux premiers grands événements qui ont eu lieu cette année. Regarder les photos ci-dessous, s'il vous plait. |
